The Diploma in Fine Art: Textile Arts and Floral Painting, with a focus on fabric and surface design and painting, is a unique program tailored specifically for the mature generation who possess a love for fine art, surface design, and traditional painting. Crafted with the leisure time or retirement lifestyle in mind, this program offers a fulfilling journey into the world of art.
In this program, learners will have the opportunity to study alongside young lecturers who are actively engaged in daily art studio practices and passionate about art therapy. Emphasizing the integration of traditional values, craft, and heritage, the curriculum is designed to provide a holistic and enriching experience.
The program is divided into two main parts, both entirely focused on practical studio work. The first part delves into surface design techniques, including natural dyeing, eco-printing, hand-stitching, and embroidery... The second part focuses on painting, encompassing various mediums such as ceramic, canvas, oil, watercolor, and acrylic paints. Theory in art and history in fine art are also included in the program.
By enrolling in this diploma program, mature learners not only hone their artistic skills but also have the opportunity to connect and collaborate with younger designers and artists, fostering a vibrant intergenerational exchange of ideas and creativity. The final semester will be a public exhibition in a professional gallery or an art fair.
